Perception Analyzer™
Gauge consumer response to
stimuli continuously; aggregate and tabulate instantly
How do you
economically
share a complex concept with consumers?
Have you ever
needed to gauge consumers’ reactions continually during a
stimuli that lasts 15-30 seconds or longer?
Have you ever
needed “overnight” tallies of ratings?
What it is:
Perception Analyzer™ is a proprietary data collection tool developed
and licensed by Columbia Information Systems. It permits immediate
and efficient collection, aggregation and presentation of data
gathered from a live audience’s response to a very large range of
stimuli.
How it Works:
Respondents are given wireless hand-held dials (“remotes”) that
facilitate easy and anonymous ratings in response to any stimulus.
Scales of any length from 0 -100 are used. Ratings can be taken
continuously (say, within the context of an audio or visual stimulus
lasting 15-30 seconds or longer).

These remotes
are “connected” to a computer which instantly computes distributions
and averages and displays them in real time to the Moderator and
the back room. The software permits printouts at the end of a
session or series of sessions. This technology can be used within
the context of a regular focus group setting.
Benefits,
Applications:
Can take second-by-second measurements during exposure to a stimulus
(e.g., radio or TV commercials); respondents don’t need to look away
from the stimulus; real-time calculation; take-away tabular data.
Suggestion:
Combine the Perception Analyzer™ technology with the Mega Group
methodology and/or the Resonance Technique to achieve readable
responses to multiple concepts instantly, and understand the
underlying emotional response they elicit.
